Queer Eye fans can officially get excited as the hit life makeover show is back this January with a brand new batch of episodes. Over the past six years, Netflix fans have been getting to know the show’s experts for more than just what they bring to the show. When it comes to their family lives, Tan France welcomed his first child in 2021 and Karamo Brown also has two kids.
Queer Eye was already well-known before the show’s reboot was launched on Netflix. Since then, the Fab Five have become decorated reality TV stars. The experts just bagged themselves another Emmy Award to add to their collection.
Karamo Brown has two kids
As Queer Eye’s culture and lifestyle expert, Karamo helps many of the show’s Heroes navigate challenges in their lives such as Speedy from season 7.
The 43-year-old guides the participants and draws wisdom from many of his own experiences throughout the episodes.
He became a father at the age of 15 – but didn’t find out he had a son until 10 years later, reports Parents.com.
Speaking of his journey into fatherhood, he said he had to “give up” his old “life” before “sharing his world” with his son, Jason Brown.

Speaking to Parents.com, Karamo explained his son’s mother was his girlfriend in high school.
He said: “She was my best friend, neither of us came from the best home environments at that time…”
Karamo is Queer Eye’s expert on relationships and social interaction which makes perfect sense given he has had to go through challenging times in his own life.
The Netflix star explained when he was around 26 years old he received papers requesting child support.
Karamo described himself as being “in his twenties, selfish, and partying all the time…”
Karamo’s son ‘grateful for journey’
Karamo’s son, Jason, had a “loving mother” growing up. However, the Queer Eye star did explain he felt saddened to have missed many big moments in Jason’s life such as “his first word.”
Speaking of the moment he was set to meet his father, Jason explained how he felt “super anxious.”
But he added as soon as he “met him and hugged him,” “it was so cool.” He said it felt like he was “missing something like that.”
In December 2023, Jason shared via Instagram how he was “truly grateful for the incredible journey with his father,” a year on from the two releasing a book together, I Am Okay to Feel.
With around 29k followers, he can be found at @rachelssideburns.
After Karamo discovered he was Jason’s father, he also found out his son had a half-brother named Chris, writes Parents.com.
The Netflix star took legal guardianship of Chris in 2011 and went on to work as a social worker for the next 10 years.
He said he: “…gives Chris and Jason’s mother so much praise for allowing me to step in and support her in raising our kids.”
